As a tourism customer service professional, you work in travel and experience services, where the most important things are customer safety, comfort and a delivering a successful service experience. The work is diverse and requires flexibility, problem-solving skills and good language skills.

During your studies, you will learn to plan and deliver customer-oriented services for the tourism industry. Studies emphasis practical work situations, collaboration and responsible practices.

These programmes are open for continuous application. For Vocational Qualification in Tourism, you can also be selected for the English-language continuous application group through the joint application to upper secondary education. If you are accepted, indicate your interest in studying in English when accepting the study place.

If the number of applicants for the English-language group exceeds the available places, students will be selected based on their final grade in English on the basic education certificate or their English grade in the matriculation examination. Applicants who do not have a basic education certificate or a matriculation examination must demonstrate English skills at level B1.1 or higher. Their English proficiency will be assessed during the selection process.

Tutkintokoulutuksia on mahdollista suorittaa myös oppisopimuksella. Oppisopimuksen edellytyksenä on työsuhde tai päätoiminen yrittäjyys. Päätoimisuus tarkoittaa vähintään 25 tuntia/viikossa olevaa työsuhdetta tai sitä vastaavaa yrittäjyyttä.

Opiskelu tapahtuu pääsääntöisesti omalla työpaikalla tai omassa yrityksessä käytännön työtehtävien tekemisen kautta. Lisäksi sinulla on työpaikalla työskentelyn lisäksi teoriaopiskelupäiviä Hyriassa (lähi- tai verkko-opetuksena). Voit hakea koulutukseen ja opiskella kokonaisen tutkinnon tai tutkinnon osan/osia oppisopimuksella. Voit solmia oppisopimuksen myös oman alasi kesätöihin sekä edistää ja nopeuttaa näin opintojasi.

Oppisopimuskoulutuksena suoritettava ammatti- ja erikoisammattitutkintokoulutus on opiskelijalle maksullista 1.8.2026 tai sen jälkeen alkavissa koulutuksissa.

Further study opportunities

The Vocational Qualification in Tourism (180 ects) makes you eligible to apply to universities of applied sciences and universities. After completing the qualification, you will have a solid foundation for further studies in higher education in fields such as tourism, service or business. You may also apply for a professional or specialist qualification within vocational education. These qualifications help you further develop the tourism skills gained in your basic qualification. For example, you can complete the Professional Qualification in Tourism Services, which focuses on planning and delivering tourism services.

If you are completing a unit of a qualification, you will have the opportunity to continue your studies in the tourism sector flexibly, according to your own interests. You can choose to complete more individual modules from the tourism qualification, or, if you wish, continue your studies all the way to completing the full vocational qualification in tourism. In this way, you can build your own career path at your own pace.
